RODEO CREEK WATERSHED VISION PLAN
In 2008, the Rodeo Creek Watershed Vision Planning Group was formed to create a working document to influence the future of Rodeo Creek and its watershed. This group, comprised of community members and local agency representatives, worked to produce the Rodeo Creek Watershed Vision Plan, a consensus-based planning effort addressing recreation, flood management, creek bank stability, fish and wildlife habitat, and other topics important to the community. With our Vision Plan as a guide, the Rodeo Creek Watershed Group has been working to accomplish some of the goals set by the community and its agencies. By creating Partners for the Rodeo Creek Watershed, a group of educators, local agencies, businesses and organizations, we will continue to work on the community priorities listed within the Vision Plan. As a creek “Partners” group, we have begun planning projects, organizing events, and raising public awareness of the environmental needs of the Rodeo Creek Watershed.
This collaborative watershed project is led by the Contra Costa Resource Conservation District, and is made possible by a generous grant from the Community Watershed Stewardship Grant Program of the Contra Costa County Watershed Program, administered by the Watershed Project. Project partners include Contra Costa County Redevelopment Agency, Contra Costa County Flood Control and Water Conservation District, Contra Costa County Public Works, ConocoPhillips Refinery, Rodeo Chamber of Commerce, and the Muir Heritage Land Trust.

The CCRCD received the Community Watershed Stewardship Grant in 2008, 2009 and 2010 from the Contra Costa County Watershed Program, administered by the Watershed Project for the Rodeo Creek Watershed!! This grant will enable the CCRCD to continue to support the Rodeo Creek Watershed Team and help assist the community in forming a “Friends of the Rodeo Creek Watershed” Group.

The Vision Planning Group has generated a lot of information in the past months, and we would like to present this information for public access. The following are links are documents that have been created during the Rodeo Watershed Vision Planning process:
In order to sort out the many agencies involved in the Rodeo Watershed, we have provided Jurisdiction Maps to the Watershed Area itself. These maps are a start at ensuring all of the agencies involved in the Rodeo Watershed are identified and incorporated into the Vision Planning Process.

Rodeo Creek Watershed Assessment for Bankfull Channel Geometry
The RCD and NRCS partnered with the Restoration Design Group to assess the bankfull channel geometry
of Rodeo Creek at various locations within the watershed. This study contributed to the restoration
design for the Muir Heritage Land Trust’s Fernandez Ranch portion of Rodeo Creek and also provided a watershed overview. Please contact Carol Arnold at carol.arnold@ca.nacdnet.net for more information.
