Mount Diablo Creek Watershed

About the Mount Diablo Creek Watershed

The Mount Creek Watershed covers an area of 23,800 acres (about 37 square miles) in the north-central part of Contra Costa County. The watershed includes all of the City of Clayton, a section of Concord, the community of Clyde, part of Mount Diablo State Park, much of the Concord Naval Weapons Station, and all of the Pt. Edith Wildlife Area. Mount Diablo Creek flows from the peak of Mount Diablo into Suisun Bay. Mount Diablo Creek Watershed Map

The Mount Diablo Creek Watershed Plan

The Mount Diablo Creek Watershed Management Plan was developed through the Coordinated Resource Management & Planning (CRMP) process, which emphasized local control, consensus-based decision-making, and voluntary implementation. A Watershed Planning Group comprised of stakeholders in the watershed collectively determined the contents of the plan. They met from June 2005 through April 2007. The final plan was published in June 2007. Minutes of all the meetings are available below. Contact Carol Arnold at carol.arnold@ca.nacdnet.net, or at 925-672-6522 x 106) if you have questions.

RCD Receives Award

The Mount Diablo Creek Watershed Management Plan was awarded the Contra Costa Watershed Forum's Public Involvement Project of 2007 at the Quadrennial Watershed Symposium on Nov. 15th. This planning process was sponsored and coordinated by the Contra Costa Resource Conservation District through an extensive two and a half year public planning process that involved over 30 dedicated organizations, agencies and community members. Funding was provided by the CALFED Watershed Program, the State Water Resources Control Board, and the San Francisco Regional Water Quality Control Board.
