Creekside Park in Oakley -   Laurel Road at Marsh Creek.

On Monday, April 23, Oakley City Council approved a general design for this park. They chose between two options, neither of which incorporated Marsh Creek – because the creek banks are owned by the Contra Costa Flood Control District.

The Friends of Marsh Creek Watershed group asked the City of Oakley to work with the Flood Control agency to include the Flood Control property in the park as a "joint use” area that could become a "creek parkway" or restored, natural area along the edge of Marsh Creek.   The Flood Control District is open to this, and even suggested it.

The Oakley City Council suggested that the Friends of Marsh Creek Watershed group explore the feasibility of their suggestion with Flood Control and the park developer then bring back a more concrete plan to the council at a future date.
